Where the Maya live in Mexico has been an unknown for many people. With all the information on the Mayan Prophecies and the End of the World saturating the media during 2012, you would think that people worldwide would know where the Maya live. But, many people haven’t a clue where the Maya live in Mexico.

Well, the map shows where the Maya live, which is in the Yucatan Peninsula. It looks like a thumb sticking out into the Caribbean Sea.

Jumping Leaves

The fallen leaves are jumping under my bouganvilla in the side yard again. It is April and one of our hottest months, but also one of the most interesting. Hundreds of birds come through during this time of year, in search of water and food, birds that you rarely see except during their migratory routes over the peninsula. They are looking for seeding grasses, insects, small berries and seeds in the pods on certain trees, and water. When the parrots glean seeds in pods, they pick them out one by one, almost surgically. If you pick up the pod, you will see that each seed has been extracted perfectly, leaving only an exact hole where the seed used to be.

To Travel, To Move:

We fly. We taxi. We bus. We drive. We bike. We hike. We sail. We kayak. We canoe. We cruise. We hitch. We off-road. We take a “tuk-tuk.” We journey. We move.

We sit back and feel motion. Motion feels good. Motion feels great. Motion centers our mental being. Motion sets out our perspective, the perspective we require to get where we’re going. Motion separates us and draws us closer, simultaneously towards others and towards ourselves. Movement moves us from us and towards Us.

The Akumals

The Akumals, Quintana Roo, Mexico is one of most fascinating places in the Yucatan – culturally speaking. The “mega-highway” of Mexico 307 divides the small tourist resort community of Akumal with the small Mexican city of Akumal Centro.

The resort community of Akumal offers Eco-reserve, eco-tourism, white beaches, fancy, all-inclusive resorts, beach houses, English speakers, more expats than you can count, a bustling local economy, a bustling foreign economy, yoga, fried street food, and expensive wifi.

A shout out for Rosetta Stone

I have the amazing opportunity to use Rosetta Stone for free through the company for which I work. Until recently, I was under challenged by the simplicity of the exercises. Once hitting conversational level, there was no way of truly practicing conversation.I rated the program: Just for beginners.

Recently, we upgraded to Rosetta Stone’s TOTALE platform. In addition to the simple exercises, the platform offers games to do on your own, as well as other learners. The best part is that they offer one-on-one sessions with native speakers of the language you are learning. And made practice exercises compatible with hand-held devices and iPads.

They closed the conversation gap.
